The Progresibo community garden initiative is helping families access fresh and healthy produce while supporting local livelihoods. Volunteers from three barangay chapters cleared an unused lot and, over six weekends, turned it into rows of vegetable beds now tended by twenty-two households.
Produce from the first harvest was shared among the families who worked the plots, with the surplus distributed to elderly residents in the area. Coordinators say the garden will also serve as a hands-on training ground for the movement’s agriculture-focused platform commitments.
“It started as a way to put idle land to use. Now it’s the thing neighbours talk about most,” said one of the volunteer coordinators who helped organise the project.
