Rules of the Membership Committee · II

Election-related activities

Recognizing that participation in local elections is one of the primordial ways to ensure that the Mission and Vision of the Organization will be realized, the following steps govern the participation of members who wish to run for public office.

1

Letter of intent

Interested members who wish to run for public positions submit their letters of intent to the Municipal Chapter.

2

Chapter evaluation

The Municipal Chapter evaluates the qualifications of the applicant.

3

Presentation to members

After the evaluation, the Municipal Chapter presents the applicant to the members of the Chapter.

4

Chapter recommendation

The Municipal Chapter recommends the applicant/s to the Membership Committee, with the endorsement of the majority of the members.

5

Committee assessment

Upon accepting the Chapter’s recommendation, the Membership Committee conducts its own assessment, which includes an interview, among others.

6

Committee resolution

The Membership Committee issues a resolution — approved by at least a majority of its members — endorsing the name/s it deems to embody the ideals of the Organization.

7

Board review

The resolution is submitted to the Board for approval. The Board may still require further assessment and interview, as it may deem proper.

8

Official list of candidates

After due consideration, the Board releases a resolution — approved by at least a majority of the Board of Trustees — stating the official list of candidates the Organization will support.
